INNOVATION PROJECT TITLE:
Experimental project in the cultivation of celery with hydroponic method: floating system
During the project period, several celery cultivation cycles are carried out with the floating system technique inside a specially set up experimental greenhouse. Comparative tests are carried out to evaluate the length of the cultivation cycles during the different periods of the year, the adaptability of the different varieties of celery on the market, different cultivation densities in terms of production and organoleptic characteristics, the correctness of the nutrient solution designed, the needs regarding defense against pathogens and pests and in general all aspects of plant growth. An important data collection and processing is prepared and carried out with the aim of determining cultivation indicators useful for achieving the production standards required by the market. To complete the experimental activities, a comparative LCA study is also prepared between celery production grown in the open field and celery production grown in soilless conditions.
